Dr. Vivekanand Bhat, a surgeon started his surgical practice in 1997, by establishing NOBLE VITILIGO CLINIC a specialty clinic which caters exclusively towards eradicating vitiligo, this was a new concept as there are no clinics which treat vitiligo exclusively. As 2-3 percent of the population is affected with vitiligo, and there is lack of good surgical treatment available, he felt that it was necessary to start a vitiligo clinic, where patients would feel comfortable to make use of the latest in medical and surgical treatment under one roof. Dr. Vivekanand Bhat received his training in Autologous Melanocyte Transplantation a ( SWEDISH PROCEDURE ) in 1997. As he was one of the first doctors to introduce this technique in India, he was fortunate enough to be consulted by thousands of patients who were not responding to other treatment modalities and this has given him a enormous experience in treating vitiligo. He understood the problems faced by vitiligo patients, more than 90% of whom were depressed, some could not mix around socially, some were not getting married, some people in high profile jobs were very upset, as this was a hurdle that they had to face every day.
